Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms and conditions, insurance coverage, charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle with Blackwood:

  • To hire a vehicle from Blackwood, you must be at least 21 years old, though age requirements may vary based on vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional charges. A valid, full driving license is necessary, as well as valid identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to provide valid payment details and a security deposit, along with meeting any further requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.

3. Reservations and Payments

  • Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, with transactions securely processed through trusted payment systems.

4. Car Pick-Up and Drop-Off

  • At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and signed to document the state of the vehicle. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Ensure that the fuel level matches what was provided at the start of the rental; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us promptly if you expect a delay. You will be accountable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.

5. Coverage and Responsibility

  • Basic third-party insurance is included with every vehicle rental at Blackwood. Comprehensive details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial responsibility. We encourage you to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will remain your responsibility, regardless of any insurance.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For detailed information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Prohibited Vehicle Uses

  • The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. It is prohibited to transport hazardous materials or sublet the vehicle to others. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Ensure that passenger and weight limits are adhered to and only operate the vehicle within the agreed geographical boundaries unless authorized otherwise.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.

8. Liability Limitations

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Blackwood Car Hire accepts no responsibility for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may result from your use of our services. Our liability for any claim is limited to the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for negligence resulting in death or personal injury, or for fraudulent actions.

9. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in English and Welsh courts.

Blackwood reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
